ITW was being pressured by their customer to improve lead times and reduce costs. Total Export suggested implementing a regular order schedule for prebuilt, knock-down crates. The strategy worked twofold: the improvement in resource planning resulted in better lead times and the larger order quantities resulted in greater economies of scale and therefore cost savings. Months into the project, Total was able to keep their commitments and ITW improved their relationship with their customer.
